1) American Airlines

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

2) Delta Airlines

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

Size: Personal Item - 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm); Carry-on - 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 cm x 35 cm x 23 cm) (including handles and wheels)

Weight: None specified, except for flights to Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai

Others: Passengers traveling on Delta Connection flights, including flights with 50 seats or less, are only permitted to carry personal items on board the aircraft due to limited overhead space.

 

3) United Airlines

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

Size: Personal Item - 9 x 10 x 17 inches (22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm); Carry-on - 9 x 14 x 22 inches (23 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm) (including handles and wheels)

Others: For most trips you can only bring one personal item when you’re flying in Basic Economy. You can’t bring a carry-on bag unless you’re flying to South America, across the Atlantic or across the Pacific. All other bags have to be checked. Note, if you check a carry-on at your gate, you’ll be charged the standard bag fee plus an additional $25.

 

4) Southwest Airlines

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

5) Alaska Airlines

Size: Personal Item – none specified; Carry-on - 22 x 14 x 9 inches (including handles and wheels)

Weight: None specified

Others: Because of smaller overhead storage and under seat space on aircraft operated by Horizon Air or SkyWest (Bombardier Q400 or CRJ aircraft), larger carry-on items will be placed on a planeside cart before boarding

 

6) JetBlue

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

Size: Personal Item - 17 x 13 x 8 inches (43 x 33 x 20 cm); Carry-on - 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 23 cm) (including handles and wheels)

Others: Each customer with a Blue Basic fare is allowed one personal item (purse, small backpack, briefcase, laptop, etc.) that fits under the seat in front of you. A carry-on bag is not allowed and cannot be brought on board (see website for exceptions)

 

 

7) Spirit Airlines

Allowed: 1 personal item (e.g., purse, laptop bag, backpack) + 1 carry-on bag

Size: Personal Item - 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm); Carry-on - 22 x 18 x 10 inches (56 x 36 x 23 cm) (including handles and wheels)

Others: Guests traveling to or from the international airports may have additional size and weight restrictions for their bags. See website for restrictions.

 

FAA/TSA regulations allow the following items, which do not count towards the carry-on limit:

Coats, hats, umbrellas; Pillow for personal use; Food for immediate consumption; Reasonable amount of reading material; FAA approved child/infant restraint seats to be occupied by a child, strollers; Service Animals, that are properly documented; Mobility/Medical assistive devices (including Breast pump; Small, soft-sided cooler of breast milk); Prescription medications and any medical devices needed to administer them (for example: syringes, auto- injections) as long as they comply with applicable safety, security, and hazardous materials rules; Diaper bags (1 per child)
